Landlords

The International Office's private housing database exists in order to help guest researchers, guest professors, Ph.D. Candidates, and international students find a place to live. To that end, a databank with offers from the independent housing market has been set up.

Once you decide to advertise a room or flat in the housing database of the International Office, you can follow these steps:

  • Get registered as a landlord in our accommodation database
  • Within your account, you can type in your new offer

In the database, you can change details in your accommodation offer at any time and you also have the possibility of adding up to six pictures to your offer.

For questions please contact us via: wohnungsdatenbank.io@zv.uni-freiburg.de. Ms. Dunja Weber can also be reached via phone on Monday - Thursday between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at +49 (0)761-203-4267.

Please note

  • The International Office only accepts furnished rooms and flats as part of its housing offer.
  • After a successful registration and entry of your accommodation offer, this will be approved by the international office. Prospective customers will receive only the contact you specified in the offer by e-mail, and then directly get in touch with you.
  • Rental contracts are to be agreed upon directly with the potential tenant. The International Office takes no responsibility for any unforeseen legal problems, should any arise.
  • The International Office cannot guarantee a successful negotiation of a rental contract.
  • As soon as you find a tenant, please change the “free from” date in your accommodation offer or deactivate the offer.

The International Office only help you get the contact information of the landlords but you need to contact them yourself. However, we are happy to help you in case of any language barrier.

Please note:

  • The International Office does not inspect the apartments available in the database for possible tenants, nor does it draw up or sign any contracts for them.
  • The International Office cannot guarantee a successful negotiation of a rental contract.
  • If you find accommodation through a real estate agent or company, you have to pay the appropriate fees. The International Office does not cover any such costs.

Please look for private housing in addition to submitting a dormitory room application. Considering areas located at the outskirts of Freiburg for a room will go a long way to help you. Many nearby communities, such as Gundelfingen, Denzlingen, Schallstadt, and Bad Krozingen have a solid public transportation connection to Freiburg. These smaller population centers are all between 5 and 12 minutes from Freiburg by bus or train.
